World Addition: Home basics? (i.e. cooking things, bedding, additional rooms (Japanese style)?). … cats. Lots and lots of cats. (can be housecats or larger). Leeks?
Why is your character here: Basically to escape the reality of his situation as of chapter 122, just after Kyou confesses to being the reason Tohru’s mother died and basically calls Tohru delusional for having feelings for him and being willing to forgive him and THEN SHE FELL OFF A CLIFF-THING AND THERE WAS BLOOD AND :’D There’s a strong wish for things to go differently, for himself to not be cursed, for this to be FIXED somehow.
Character history: Most people know the story of the Chinese zodiac, in which God invites the 12 animals for a banquet to celebrate the coming of the New Year. However, often overlooked is the story of the Cat who did not make the banquet in time because of the trickery of the Rat. This is a story that has a large relevance to Kyou’s and his family’s lives. Kyou is the Cat in the story, cursed by the spirit of this animal and forever treated as the outsider and the worst one. While most of the zodiac have difficult lives from birth (often with the curse putting a strain of familial and parental relations), Kyou’s is one of the more difficult ones where his mother commits suicide when he was child and his father blamed him and his birth solely for her death. Because he is the Cat, no one in the Sohma family was willing to take in the cursed child of the zodiac, save for one man whose grandfather had been the previous Cat.
Since being taken in by Kazuma, Kyou lives a relatively normal, though estranged, life with his equally cursed cousins. It is around this time that little Kyou also runs into a woman with strangely orange hair who treated him like a normal kid and often talked about or showed him pictures of a girl about his age. Eventually, circumstances come to be that years after he angrily runs away from this woman, he would be standing at the same intersection as her when the accident that ultimately kills her occurs. Unable to do anything, as grabbing hold of a person of the opposite sex would trigger his curse and transform him into a cat, Kyou watches as the woman dies, her last words being “I won’t forgive...” upon catching sight of him in the crowd. This accident ultimately is what pushes Kyou to shove all of his hate and self-loathing onto the Rat, his cousin Yuki, who according to the story is the reason for the Cat’s troubles. So it is that after 4 months of being in the wilds with Kazuma that Kyou returns to the public and the family, making a bet with the head of the family: If Kyou is able to defeat Yuki, he will be acknowledged as a true member of this group; if he should fail, come graduation from high school, he will be locked away in the building meant solely for the isolation and containment of those cursed by the Cat.
So it is that Kyou targets Yuki--only to run into the trouble of finding out that a girl, Honda Tohru--the daughter of the woman killed in the accident--is currently living with Yuki and their cousin Shigure. It is through a series of unfortunate events (largely caused by Kyou’s arrival) that Tohru learns the Sohma family secret and things begin to change as Kyou is made to live in that house as well. Somehow, over time, the Sohmas also begin to change and Kyou himself starts to develop feelings for her, which, to Kyou, seems only doomed from the beginning.
Character personality: Over all, Kyou is a well-meaning kid who only wants to be accepted by those around him. Often, this comes across loudly and aggressively where he challenges or shouts denials and arguments at the other people involved. He’s a bit hot-headed and quick to believe a (pretty obvious) lie from his cousins who like to tease him. This and a general uncertainty of how to act around people (being ostracized most of your life has that effect) does make him difficult to approach sometimes, but mostly, Kyou is someone who has been hurt and who often feels as though he is outside the group, looking jealously in. He doesn’t trust easily when it comes to strangers but Kyou also is someone who will look after a person if they need help or (like Tohru) overwork themselves or are oblivious to their own problems. Often, the term most often used for Kyou by his cousins and friends is “idiot”--because he’s really dumb about not only other people’s feelings (and noticing the subtleties in their actions or words), but his own dumb feelings. While a martial artist, Kyou is wholly clumsy when it comes to handling relationships or speaking seriously or deeply with someone, often not “getting it”. He is much more inclined to be more thoughtful and communicative through his actions than words.
Skill loss or memory loss?
Memory loss!
Amnesiac Personality: Largely, without his memories, Kyou will not have as much of the Outsider Looking In issues and less of the perpetually believing everything is his fault. He will be a lot more energetic and cheerful, instead. He will still be easily susceptible to being teased and will become mightily embarrassed at falling for it, possibly even getting a bit temperamental about it. However, a lot of his anger that stems from the cycle of hatred and condemnation he lived in back home will be gone, so while still aggressive and likely to throw down a challenge at people who mock him, Kyou will likely not be as single-minded about his intentions. Without these memories, Kyou will also be a lot more open and willing to trust others, especially in regards to his curse--though he’ll likely still be very uncomfortable and shy and put off about it.

SURVEY: If this survey is too something something for you to want to fill out, you can steal one from another game, I won’t mind.
Introduce yourself:
Sohma Kyou... there’s not supposed to be some special kind of introduction, is there?
Favorite color?
I dunno, orange? I guess...
What do you pride yourself on?
My martial arts skills. It’s something I’m dedicated to learning more of and maybe... one day... I’ll be able to take over my Shishou’s dojo... maybe... sure...
What parts of yourself do you consider most essential?
… huh? Most essential? Isn’t that like your heart or lungs or something? “Parts of myself...”--all of me. Though I could do without some parts, I guess...
What parts of yourself would you get rid of if you could?
--oh, that’s the next question. It... a curse.
What’s most important to you in the world?
That... with that I--... but it’s. Not something that can be fixed. Or it has to be fixed. It has to.
How far would you go to get what you want?
As far as I need to and then some.
Do you believe in survival of the fittest as applied in a social context?
Damn right. But the fittest should also look out for those who can’t stick up for themselves.
What role do you feel most comfortable fulfilling in a team situation?
--huh?! I don’t get this kind of question. It’s a stupid question. This entire survey is stupid.
Do you believe you made good choices?
… I wouldn’t be here if I did, would I.
